One of my favorite characters on Boardwalk Empire, is Chalky White. I think like most of the characters who get less air time, there is a certain mystique. Chalky inspired this outfit, watching HBO and the people behind the styling, design, etc…is amazing. The men in Boardwalk empire are SHARP! What I love about Chalky is his depth. I am so behind. Beyond behind. So, what is crackin’? Personally, I have started taking a few classes outside of sl, and entered a competition in SL, where I felt way out of my league…depth?The Fashion big leagues, where I felt a bit like a marauder, but extremely flattered to even be involved, and getting to actually talk to people I admire, and consider to be mentors. I never thought I would be able to actually have discourse with these individuals besides, OMG! I’s loves you, all day long on flickr, admiring from afar… Yes, that was me in your prim rose-bush. Essentially, my av now has an ulcer.

On the positive side things are starting to fall back into place in rl and in sl. Managing a balance between Second Life and Real Life, is hard for me. However, I try to keep in mind that I started this blog to work on a skill, it is the work that is important. There will be times I back slide, times I put this blog to the side, but we are all on different trajectories. I like to break it down into people who are hobbyists regarding goals at this moment is to figure out how to actually use CS5. I am like *head scratch. Whether you are a hobbyist or a professional, people create beautiful work when they put work and time in. I am flaky about both of these things for instance I took these photos back in the early October, and just am getting around to “publishing them.” I have a lot of pictures sitting in my ‘need to be edited pile’. I at least got around to finishing 4 looks, despite me being like…I dunno about these, it is the process. The process…process.

 I wanted to play with the neon palate that Faint Paulse presented in her Modavia Fashion Week Fall release. It was really beautiful. Cuz y’alls know I love me some color. Color fiend, I am. Suri is more of a ready to wear girl, but I am still in awe of Faint, but don’t feel confident enough to really go for the full look, which is always amazing. The other thing that I love about Faint is the fact that she is always thinking about versatility, different layers, ways to utilize the whole garment. She now has these really gorgeous Angel collection right now. It is magnificent, and even if you feel outclassed, gussy up, make a wine spritzer, and have your av walk down a make shift catwalk, while blaring music from your iTunes. I guess I am the only one who may do this.

A light shined from the heavens for a moment, probably more likely I was suffering from eye strain, but I am setting a scene here…so go with it.

Behold! The skin’s Yuri and Maria, said the voice inside of my head.

I began to do my church pew bob and weave while sitting in front of my computer.

I have been waiting for this day, I wasn’t sure if it would ever come, but I had faith in Milok. Now prior to the release of Yuri and Maria, Milok had gone tan; which I wasn’t complaining about. Mother Goose is one of the few stores that I will by fairer complected skins from, just because I love how each skin she creates is so different from any other skin store in second life.

Now, I understand that skin preference is rather specific for most people in SL. Some people never change skins, or it is like a once a year thing where they experience gut wrenching agony over choosing “that new skin”. Other people care more about whats goin’ on under the neck, paired with a pretty face for good measure. You have people who lean towards skins that are a less mainstream, which tends to be more about the face; because if it is less mainstream below the neck I…well..I don’t really know what that would entail, but whatever works for you.

So since this is kinda sorta a skin post let me make it clear.

I am not a skin blogger. I do not look at seams,toes, hands, boob/crotch shading. I don’t even take my av’s clothes off to judge a skin. I mean Suri is always clothed unless trying to put a look together.

I like Mothergoose’s skins and that’s it. I love these new releases all of them, even the fairer ones. I love them all indescriminately; but I am so freakin’ jazzed whenever a skin creator goes dark.I just want to be clear, I am not saying that dark complected skins need to have African features, there are all types of brown people in the world, and all types of people of African descent who look a multitude of ways.

I dig the fact that Milok keeps things affordable, and offers a lucky board with even her new releases in the mix.. I also like that she keeps her perspective, while creating skins that get better and better with each new release.

Okay about what I am wearing, to be honest I just slapped it together, but I think I look cute. This dress is a steal at Fashionably Late, it is by House of Fox, who can do no wrong. This is the quintessential little Black dress. Think Audrey.

The jewelry is Lagyo, I know butterflies, and butterflies, but I love this collar, and I love adding prim objects to my av evidently.

I don’t know how many hours of my life have been spent waiting for the bus.

For most of you who don’t know me personally, which would be like everyone; I spent a good chunk of my life living in Brooklyn. Let’s say around 20 years give and take, which means I am older than 20 *winks. Now, people often think that living in a major city means mass transportation is everywhere…that is basically true, but for people who live off the nether branches of the transportation tree, sometimes you feel like your neighborhood is the cog in the great wheel called the MTA.

 Cog or not, my neighborhood is beautiful, and I often miss it.

If you live in my old neighborhood you have three options…you can walk the 15/20 minutes downtown to Atlantic Avenue, you can wait on the B-38, or take the G train . I typically walked because I hate to wait (also as a child my mother always made me take the bus…has cheek pinching trauma flashbacks), plus try navigating a full cup of coffee with ease on the B-38 in the morning. we could bet on the percentage consumed by your clothing, hopefully not your neighbors clothing as well, and the bus itself.

There are times…where walking isn’t a viable option, and that is when bad weather strikes. Snow, I laugh at…rain, not so much. Rain is like the ultimate frowney face living in a pedestrian city.

Sometimes you just have to wait…even if it is impatiently.

I would like to mention that there are a few blogs that have also covered some of the same pieces I am wearing. I am in love with these fashionistas, so I am going to mention them here. Bootsy Bubbles, So Many Styles.

It is safe to say everyone is in love with this TokiD cardi, I am, the pattern, the colors…yum. The skirt I am wearing is from the secret store, as well as the red wool tights. Maylee’s designs are gorgeous, her fall releases especially in my opinion. She always gets texture oh so right, and isn’t afraid of patterns and color. TokiD also isn’t afraid of pattern, and I like that their color palate is a bit different.

Also back to CHANTKARE, this necklace is gorgeous, makes me want to put it in a sammich; if that aint love folks I don’t know what is. I think it is important with assecories…that they make an impact, but are also versatile…so whoop whoop . You can find this piece at Modavia, at the moment.

The skin I am wearing is from Lelutka, I did toss on a tanning layer…*sings,Brown Skin Lady! I love the versatility of Lelutka skins, they photograph beautifully offer a ton of options and there isn’t one makeup that I am like…hears record skipping. In the post before this, and the one after, I am wearing Flutter (Lelutka skin), and to me they look oh so different.

My lovely loafers are from Lelutka as well, often times I wish they would stop making shoes, so I wouldn’t have to go broke…Let’s face it if Lelutka stopped creating, I would probably have a nervous breakdown. Whose the SL shopping addict? *raises her hand.

This hair, also from Lelutka is spot on texture wise (if you happen to have hair like mine), totally makes me think of myself in 1998, I was such a huge fan of Janet Jackson, and when the velvet rope dropped; I died my hair this color. I think a lyric from the Joni Mitchell song she used as a hook on this album fits this post.

Okay I think I am semi-officially back to blogging. I have taken a few images recently, after spending the week getting accustomed to the new viewer. I also had to boost my power wattage regarding my computer, but now it isn’t over heating and er…stuff. Really, I am lucky power wattage is a relatively affordable upgrade.

So..Miss Applonia Criss not only had an amazing show at Fall 2011 SL Fashion week, but homegirl also has additional Fall items. I don’t know how she does it, and that’s okay cuz she looks fabulous doing it, and some of that fabulosity rubs off on me, since I love her work. The jacket (part of a suit), and the skirt (part of a dress) are so effortless. This is why I love CHANTKARE. I know you are thinking like why you always all up in CHANTKARE’S grill, because the brand is fabulous. Look at this jacket…and the pattern on the skirt (part of a dress). Mix n match seperates…that is all I am going to say. Miaa Rebane (guest starring Takeshi), have  a great post featuring the dress, in case you want to see it, in the way the designer envisioned it. I won’t go on and on about how I obsessed I am with certain blogs (points to Takeshi’s and Miaa’s blogs) but lets just say there are probably around 30 bloggers whom I get totally worked up in a tizzy about.

Okay my new blogging mantra…policy…feel good opportunity?

I have made a few rules for myself regarding blogging/taking photos in SL…1) even though I am a blog and flickr whore, I am not going to read them every morning religiously. Why may you ask, isn’t being a blog/flickr whore much safer than being a whore whore. Well yes it is, and I am sure much less work too. I just don’t want to be influenced about what I choose to blog. I am a terribly slow blogger photographer, I am not a perfectionist or anything, but just slow. So when I look at the feeds and what not, I get all…”Oh no…I just put a similar outfit together using 2 out of the 10 items so and so already posted.” This was something I was like uber concerned about in the past. I still feel a bit iffy about it; therefore I will link to the blog/flickr of the person whom I feel like may be like…”That damn Suri…copying my style.” This style overlapping typically only happens when items are newly released. There are so many talented bloggers/photographers in SL at the moment, like seriously talented… it is bound to happen that fashion geniuses will think along similar lines at times.

I am soo not a fashion genius…but end up wearing a lot of newer releases because despite my dedication to keeping my inventory straight; I also have a multiple personality disorder which causes me to keep reorganizing at a whim because the previous way I have decided doesn’t work. Did I mention I am glutten for punishment?  So thereto…therefore…ergo..haha! Ergo, newer releases are typically not shelved into categories yet and fresh on my mind, hence the blogging overlap.

Back to the rules. 2) I am not going to stress…this is easier said then done. I am not going to think to myself, does Suri look like a cracked out homeless person, or boho chic? I am just going to go with it. After all blogging is about your personal perspective. If my overly assecorized primmed out av looks fabulous in my mind, it’s going up.

3) I am going to keep to my goals regarding my blog. They are really simple…I would like to be accepted eventually to any sl feed I admire. I hope that occasionally people find my posts interesting. I would like to meet other bloggers and people who share my passion for fashion and photography in SL. I figure a lot of shopaholics, bloggers, photographers, are pretty anti-social, since those types of activities take up time, but I can still hope. *Looks off wistfully in the distance…. I would also like to eventually be confident enough in my photography skills, to maybe attempt photography for an SL magazine…I can dream right?

4) I want to remain thankful. I love to complain, complaints are  like chips; can’t stop at one. To be honest though I am really fortunate to be able to log into sl, shop like a Tasmanian devil, and have the time to work on pictures etc.

5) My last rule, I want to keep learning. I know that SL is a hobby, but I still feel like…Yes! ( *arm pump) when I figure something out in PS; or learn some nifty new trick, or have people ask me if I happen to know some nifty new trick. The answer to the latter question is no…but I will happily point you in the direction of smart people who do.

Also also also!!! I just wanted to say what I wonderful week I had in sl attending Modavia Fashion Week. It was amazing. One of the rare occasions that I got to cam…SL heroes of mine. I am like socially dysfunctional, so…I didn’t really work up the courage to speak to many of the said heroes. If you haven’t already gone…go to Modavia. I will provide a link. It is like a fall fashion goodness all bundled in a very laggy mall. Some items are packaged for the event, so don’t freak out if the price tag is crazy; I am assuming many of the items are going to be repackaged. I was so hardcore about fashion week. I left my av logged in all hours of the day just so I could “get in to certain shows.” Erm, now that I have mentioned this if you would like to beat me for unintentional lag, or it took you 4 hours to get into the sim. You can typically find me in the air above my little store say 3000 feet. Just don’t hit my face, it is my money-maker. It isn’t… but I have always wanted to say that.

First off…I am so sorry for totally going MIA. I had a friend/family emergency, which stretched out longer than I anticipated. My darling friend who is recovering and doing much better than the initial prognosis, lives about 5 states away, and is in the dark ages. She has dial up…no cable, etc etc. So I haven’t been able to really log in, plus playing nurse kept me extra busy. Needless to say, I have to play catch up with work, and a few other things not regarding work. Summer is still in full swing, with the holiday weekend and family being in town etc etc…It may take me a few weeks until I am blogging again. I should be back blogging a bit later in September or October. I have also decided while I have been gone, not to take any more promo copies. Given my track record I think designers deserve someone who is a complete professional regarding their blogging activities.

Okay so two things this week, I will have two friendship pose sets at Fashionably Late, priced at 50L, and will include a copy version and a trans version. So you can give one to a friend, these were inspired by my friend Journey Lorakeets vision, and have been featured in my blog.

Two, my little store is having a sale. All pose sets are 50L, and single poses are 10L. There is also an almost freebie located in the store, so you will have to tp in to find it. The sale will last from September 4th – September 11th.

These Madras harem shorts by the one and only Miss Criss, just scream summer, I am mentally hugging them as we speak. Kookie can't go wrong. Cosmetics  addicted, get your booty down to Kozmetika! Shade Throne is so awesome....and Sweetest Goodbye, Lelutka gorgeous sculptitude! I just love when you toss something on by talented creators and you have to do very little.
